2019 International Summit on West African Health Launched

The West African International Health Summit has been launched at a brief but impressive ceremony at the Ghana Innovation hub within the Digital Center in Accra.

The Summit, which is scheduled to take place from the 20th to the 22nd of February, 2019, is under the theme “collaborating through networking and technology for improved healthcare in Africa”.

The summit is expected to attract hospital leaders, policy makers and professionals in the health sector within the sub-region and beyond. Addressing the ceremony, CEO of Oriental Biomedical Services, Fiifi Dwamena, the organizers of the event, underscored the need for health providers in the sub-region to share knowledge on new trends in the sector, and forge partnerships that will improve the health of the people.

He further indicated that the summit will be an annual venture that will endeavor to improve the situation in the health sector.

“ I am interested in ensuring that all focal ministries coordinate their efforts in ensuring a collaborative effort to achieve the SDGs and the Africa 2063 agenda.This forum therefore presents an opportunity to facilitate and coordinate the several agencies towards creating competitive advantage to drive success and achieve the expected outcomes.”

Present at the launch were representatives of the Ghana Pharmacy Council, Mental Health Authority, Ghana Ambulance Service and the Ministry of Health, as well as Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China, Dr. Charles Dwamena.
