Professor Angela L. Ofori-Atta is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry, University of Ghana, Chairperson of the Ghana Psychology Council, and founder of the Psych Corps. She pioneered how to teach young people in public schools about AIDS, set up mental health services in Ghana’s most deprived region and organized volunteers for the children’s ward of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

She run a randomized control trial in a prayer camp to reduce the use of physical restraints, was co-principal investigator for the DFID funded Mental Health and Poverty Project Research Consortium, and has collaborated on Sankofa, an NIH funded study on pediatric HIV AIDS disclosure in Ghana. She actively advocated for the passage of Ghana’s mental health law passed in 2012 and has co-authored “Changing Trends in Mental Health Care and Research in Ghana”.
